Green Wednesday: How long does it really take to decompose everyday things in a landfill?

For those days that you feel less motivated to going green here is a list of how long does it really take for our everyday items to decompose.

  • Aluminium Can 200-500 years
  • Banana Peel 3-4 weeks
  • Disposable Diaper 550 years
  • Leather Shoe 45 years
  • Paper Bag 1 month
  • Plastic Jug 1 million years
  • Tin Can 90 years
  • Plastic 6-pack Holder 450 years
  • Styrofoam Container 1 million years
Every time I go through the list I feel like recycling and reusing everything.

WOW! I am in shock by how long some of the items take! I knew styrofoam was horrible but I had no clue it was that bad!
