{Series} I Love your Style: Helena from A Diary of Lovely

Helena from A Diary of Lovely is sharing her style secrets with us today!! I really loove her style... and reading this post you'll understand why! There such a classic & chic sophistication to it...the type of style that transcend time & trends! Think Jackie O!

Helena, you are such a gracious lady... and this makes you stylish beyond words! Thank you for sharing your secrets with us...and thank you for participating in this series!

When Sasha invited me to participate in her new series about style I was really excited. I thought it would be easy, I blog about "style" everyday, right? well... right... not! There are so many angles one can take with a post like this, what is style, who is stylish, what defines style and so on. So where do I start?
Stylish women? Yes definitely, there are many out there. Michelle Obama is one of them, bold, strong, she knows what she wants and she proves it with her fashion choices. She knows what works for her and she isn't afraid to experiment with colors, textures and new designers, she rocks ladies, she really rocks. Rachel Bilson, yes, OC is long gone and we haven't seen her much around our TVs but her style is unmissable, petite and cute she never puts a foot wrong, right figure, right accessories, right colors, she blows me away. Lee Radziwill, Jackie's sister, I will never forget the first photo I saw of her, wearing a shift dress, no shoes, walking around St. Tropez or Greece, classic, gorgeous, and unmissable. And the list goes on.
But then again, it's not only about stylish women who let's admit it, can really afford to be stylish. Money helps, a lot, but there are ways to be stylish on a budget, many of us know it, many of us dress on a budget and we still consider ourselves stylish women, right? We can't give a fortune in clothes, bags, shoes, we would love to, yes, but we can't, I can't at least. So affordable solutions are the solution. So... what are my style secrets? And how do I define my style?
Classic with some hints of "now trends"
Colorful and fun
Simple and uncomplicated
I wear basic makeup, mascara and pinkish blush. It makes me happy, it's easy and to be honest it really makes a difference. I try to buy clothes that I know suit my body type, I am lucky to wear jeans at work and wear them a lot. Then I accessorize. At the moment I'm loving stripes (who doesn't?) and layering.
My typical look is simple
1. Mariniere, Petit Bateau
2. Top, Anthro
3. Cardigan, Anthro
4. Jacquet, Zara
5. Pumps, Simple 70, Louboutin
6. Balerinas, French Sole
7. Jeans, Hollister
8. Bag, Bayswater, Mulberry
9. Necklace, Elephantine
Pretty simple I know, but it works well for me and I believe that when you find what suits you you should definitely go for it, it's great to experiment, but I'm not 18 anymore so I rather go for the safer option most of the time. You make your own style, your clothes define you yes, but your style is you and you define your clothes.
Thank you Sasha, this has been a great experience and very fun. Thanks for having me here. xoxo

Don't forget to enter the giveaway for the series!

Oh Helena this is such a great post! And Sasha, a great series. I look forward to reading many more :)

Oh and Helena I so agree with you about sticking to what's right for your body. Trends & experimentation are great and all but you have to be sensible about what works.

Have a wonderful weekend! xoxo

Great series, and great post from Helena. Style. A very difficult thing to pinpoint, but we have so many iconic women all over our world from whom to gain insight. For me, right now, Princess Letitia of Spain is always spot-on.
Have a lovely weekend. xx's Marsha
