....in less than 24 hours I'll be on a plane on my way to meet my mother and ready to enjoy 12 days in Paris with her!! Yes, just mother and me... no kids, no husbands just the two of us... in a city we adore!!. We might take 2 days to visit some family in Belgium but we don't know yet...since we decided we where going to take this trip one day at a time!!! Is the first time I am leaving my kids for 10 days but the idea of having a trip of a lifetime with my mother.... OMG what a blessing!!! I am beyond excited and so grateful we are going to have this time just the two of us in Paris!!!  If you know of any place, market, museum, restaurant that we need to go or any lotion, local perfume...anything that we can buy....would love to know! I literally love following your recommendations... not only it usually turns out to be  a fabulous place but it immediately has a special meaning...!!!

I have a couple of posts lined up so it's not going to be au revoir... just a bientôt!!

I absolutely adore Paris!! You must go to Cafe Angeline for hot chocolate and a "mont blanc" dessert. If it's not too cold, take your drink and dessert into the Tuileries Garden and sit at the slanted chairs around the fountain and take in the sites. I was also very impressed with my meal at Le Procope. And, no Paris trip would be complete without ice cream from Berthilon!

if you're never been, don't miss the Sacre Coeur, especially at sunset on a clear night.. Also, a little secret... On Sunday go to Rue Cler (a street right behind the Eiffel) to get bread, cheese, fruit and wine for a little picnic you can take to eat on the lawn of the tower! And lastly, the Luxembourg Gardens are magical. Enjoy!

Ahhh. I love Paris - absolutely my most favorite place in the world.

You have to try Jacques Genin's caramels - the mango passionfruit one is to die for. He has a shop here - 133, rue de Turenne. But I recommend going to this cute little candy shop in Montmartre where they sell the caramels (and a million other amazing things). The owner is the most adorable lady. You will have so much fun with her as she'll guide you through her store and excitedly tell you about everything (in French of course). The name of the shop is A l’Etoile d’Or.

I also recommend e-dehillerin for copper pots and other great cookware.

Have fun!

I would say go to the touristy places but I'm sure that's already on your to do list. So this place is a small little bar somewhat near the Notre Dame. You order drinks by drawing cartoon characters and you drink alcohol out of a baby bottle while playing board games. It a hidden gem but will bring out the child in you!! The website is below. http://www.zerodeconduite.fr/presentation.html

One of the oldest windmills in Paris is located in Montmartre. It's called Moulin de la Galette. I believe you can eat there as well :) If you are going to Sacre Couer you will most likely see the Montmartre area since they are right beside each other.

Also, make sure you know which museums you want to go to before hand. You won't be able to hit them all in 10 days. Louvre itself takes 2 full days.

P.S. check Versailles before going because at this time of year there might not be any gardens. I went last November and it was barren.

Enjoy!!

So lucky! gosh i miss Paris! Agreed with the girls above, if you have a chance, just sit in the Tuileries Garden and people watch, lots of the time, this is where youll see some amazing fashion, and dont miss the gorgeously dressed little kids! The best thing i probably did in Paris, is not exactly in Paris, but not too far away! We went to Versaille and after we took the tour through the Palace, we rented bikes and rode around the gardens. This was the best experience and i cant recommend it enough! Its such a beautiful place, and to be whizzing by on bikes is just breath taking! pretty sure i had a smile on my face the entire time! afterwards we sat down in the gardens to our standard french lunch, Baguette, Cheese and Ham, honestly the best!
Also, make sure you dont miss Laduree Macarons! Simply the best, and thought to be the original!
Have so much fun, and enjoy it for all of us! cant wait to hear all the stories and see all the photos! :) x

I was just there this past summer for 5 days and had the best time! Definitely stop by Lauduree for authentic french macaroons, and Versailles is not to be missed (and only a short train away.) The beach city of Arcachon is also absolutely delightful and not very expensive. I recommend lots of 5 euro crepes from the street stands, and for a splurge night definitely go to the dinner caberet at the moulin rouge! A bit touristy, but actually fabulous and the food is great. If you visit Notre Dame, pay the extra admission to walk to the top of the bell tower, it's totally worth it and absolutely the best view of Paris! Don't waste your time or money going to the top of the Eiffel- not exciting. Have a blast!
Bisous,
Rachel

Fallafel at L'As Du Fallafel! SO good and one of the cheapest meals you'll find in Paris.
I loved the Musee de Carnavallet, it's a smaller museum about the history of Paris.

I can recommend the restaurant on the first floor of the Eiffel Tower (the restaurant is a little hidden), it's really nice and the food is good and not as pricey as in the Jules Vernes which is on the second floor. This one is OMG expensive but it's also OMG food ;-) Can't really recommend the famous La Coupole though, these days it's living more off it's history than it's present food quality.
Also, watch out for frauds. Everytime I went to Paris, I saw the "ring trick". Someone is pretending to have found a ring they want to give you, and in exchange they want money. Just signal that you know the trick and they'll leave you alone ("Casse-toi" does the trick... it's not friendly though, but neither are they! ^^). Oh and when you visit Sacre-Coeur, don't look up first thing after you walk through the doors. There are people trying to rip you off with friendship bracelets and they all know that everyone looks up first thing. I know first hand ;-) I talked them out of it, but it was stressful.
Oh, and absolutely enjoy your trip! Just yesterday, my boyfriend and I both said Paris always raises big expectations in people, but it also does not disappoint! It is a city, unlike many others, I'd like to go to every year :-D

Have a wonderful time, Sasha! I could take an entire page to fill out recommendations but stop in at La Contrie if you can. Edwina has a beautiful shop with leather that is so fine and gorgeous... from bracelets to handbags :)

Have a macaron for me, for you cannot visit Paris without visiting Ladurée!

Love, Sarah
