What a wonderful giveaway! I like to stay within budget during the holidays by making food and other homemade gifts and decorations. In the past I've made double batches of cookies and bars, and made assortment packs for my friends/family. I also just worked with my friend Christine to show off some fun ideas for DIY gift-wrapping and decoration using Japanese washi tape: http://www.thesweetestoccasion.com/2011/11/washi-tape-gift-wrap/

to stay with in budget, I set aside a little each month so that I have all my spending money by Christmas.
I use cash when I go shopping, that way I don't overspend.
I love making gifts for family and friends - things they can either eat or use!

We type out everything purchased and planned to be purchased in an Excel Spreadsheet. We include recipient, item name, store, price, etc. to keep up on top of what's all there. The totals spent automatically tally at the bottom in big, bold numbers. Works for us!

Incredible giveaway!
To stay within budget, I always write a list of people I need to buy gifts for and allot a specific amount of money towards each gift. Then I write each person's name on an envelope, stuff the designated amount of cash in each one ($50 for sis, $20 for dogsitter, etc...) and shop with these restrictions in mind...That way I NEVER go over and always seem to have enough change leftover to buy myself a hot chocolate and biscotti to reward such efficiency :D

Peace. Love. LOL!

Good question! I am always thinking about that. Handmade presents are my favorite way to give personal but still budget-friendly presents. Most of the time the people who appreciate these presents are people who give handmade gifts themselves.
Happy Holidays!

What an incredible giveaway ~ wow! I would love to win.
My tip on staying within my budget is "write it down" and plan out what everything costs before you go shopping.

What an amazing giveaway! When I'm trying to stay within a budget, I usually go the homemade holiday route, too. This year, I picked up some white trays & gold paint from Michael's. Gold patterned serving trays for all! ;)
Love this giveaway! I like to shop online and look for coupon codes before I check out to keep within my shopping budget.

I buy things all year long that are on sale that I see that would make good gifts. Then come December - I'm pretty much done. I make alot of homemade/baked gifts as well.
I'm going to tweet now! @icywit
Using American Express points is a great way to stretch your gift-giving budget during the holidays. Also, gifts from the kitchen are always heartfelt and appreciated.
How fantastic!! Staying within my budget...hmm... kind of hard, but for the holiday season I like to make baked good for presents. Also I like to give journals or books that are interesting and highly stylized.
I stay within my holiday budget by figuring out what I really need (or want) and purchasing on sale.
I make sure to stick to my holiday food list, always keep it simple for parties and gatherings, and use my DIY skills to do cheap decorations in the house so I have more money to dedicate to gifts for my amazing husband, family, and friends. This year I taught myself how to do pretty little paper german stars for ornaments and a gorgeous gold holiday wreath out of brass tacks!

In my extended family, we exchange names and set a spending limit. In my immediate family, I *try* to have ideas ahead of time so that when sales like Black Friday come around I can take advantage. I also use FatWallet.com and extra discounts through AAA and my Entertainment book.

I save money by always searching for coupons on RetailMeNot and CouponCabin. I also use Ebates--they are doing a ton of double cash back rewards around this time of year... great additional savings!
One thing I do to make sure I stay on budget for the holidays is I predetermine how much money I will spend on each person, and stick to it!
I also tweeted from @lovealamode!
And I made a facebook post!
I stop buying starbucks, and unnecessary junk food and I try to buy at least with free shipping and until the product I want has a discount.. I have mentioned this in my blog "The Purple bow" facebook.
I keep my eyes peeled for online deals and coupons when it comes to saving on holiday shopping. I am keeping some money stashed away for my loved ones' presents too!
Amanda223399@gmail.com
First of all, I promise not to buy anything for myself in all of November and December. Naturally, this saves enough for some extra presents, and it helps me keep in the giving spirit of the season! Also, I try to be as strategic as I can when shopping for others, looking for deals on Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday. (I love that AE created Small Business Saturday! I hadn't realized that!) My final tip is to remember that Christmas is not all about spending money. It's the thought that counts, and I love crafting and baking special gifts for my loved ones!
I like to use coupons and make a list of what I want to buy and stick to it.

Thanks for the wonderful giveaway! We make most of our foods from scratch and find fun ways to spend our time outdoors that don't cost much, like going to the beach. We take advantage of sales and purchase gifts ahead of time and also have specific gifts in my for each child, something they will each really love.

To save money we have been doing potluck Christmas get togethers. Easier on our pockets and less stressful.
At the beginning of holiday shopping, I write a list of every person I have to buy for and an appropriate amount to spend on that person, then I do all my shopping online to ensure that I stay within budget for each person. I cross them off the list as I buy and if I end up going over for one person, I adjust the budgeted amounts for others accordingly.
To stay within budget, I make sure to only buy things I need. Just because something is on sale is not a reason to buy it!

This is a great giveaway. I stay within budget by making homemade gifts. Not only are they personalized but they are from the heart as well. Mix those in with a couple of great deals and you have some happy people come holiday time!
I put away a little away each month so when the holidays come I don't feel like I'm spending extra money,
great giveaway! happy to be an american resident! :) fingers crossed!
I plan out in advance what I am going to get and to whom. Then I head out and pick up the gifts or order online. That way I do not have to spend much time out and about browsing shops... that is when it gets dangerous.

To stay on budget with holiday shopping -- I make a list, check it twice and make a budget. I also do some sneaky planning with friends for fun surprises!:)

Lists Lists Lists! I usually do a lot of research online before I go into a store, but the BEST gifts usually come from small boutiques or shops on Etsy. As long as I stick to the list, I usually stay within budget.
GREAT GIVEAWAY! I could really use this!
sweet photo)
To stay within budget I start my shopping early so I don't have to buy presents willy nilly last minute. I also set budgets with certain people. My brother and I have a $25 gift limit and I have a $10 one with my best friend.
brianneoneil@gmail.com
I just tweeted it!
If there is a year where I just can't afford to buy everyone something I make a generous donation to an amazing charity in everyone's name. If I do have enough money for everyone I stick to my budget and try to set aside money in the months leading up to Xmas just for presents.
The holiday season can easily drain anyone's account. I love buying others gifts so it's easy to get carried away come Christmas. To combat excessive gift giving, I plan out what I will purchase for each person on my list. Then, I search the internet, looking for deals (free shipping, BOGO, %off, etc.). My goal is only visiting a brick-and-mortar store when I have to or there is a better deal in store. Setting a budget for each person also helps and sticking to that budget will ensure you don't find yourself in a spending coma in the New Year!
I do most of my shopping online so that I can compare prices, but if I do go out to the mall, I try to have a finite plan-- which specific stores I will go to-- and a list of what I need to get.
I'm a crafter, so I definitely make gifts for the people that will appreciate them. For the rest I check amazon.com
Thanks for the giveaway!

I try to only buy something that I know someone will love, rather than a bunch of junk just so everyone gets something. Also, online discounts help a lot.
Congrats on the cool giveaway.
To stay in my holiday budget I usually make a list of gifts before I even go out shopping once. It gives me an idea of what stores I "need" to go to, which helps me from wandering around aimlessly in a mall. Once I've finished the necessary gifts I use the extra money to buy fun little stocking stuffers.

I'm an early buyer when it comes to holiday shopping. I usually put aside a small amount each month for my Christmas budget, and I'll buy one thing for each of my friends and family, usually months ahead of time because I enjoy taking my time to find the perfect gift. Then I'll complement that gift with some homemade pieces. They love the little personal presents.
I tweeted about the contest
(@aluckyfifth)
I usually try to find handmade gifts on Etsy which are less expensive on the whole, than department store buys! Plus, your purchases support artisans.
Baked goods are also great, inexpensive gifts.
Thanks for the giveaway!
I am big at coming up with the list before I hit the mall, etc. I don't want to go in and get side tracked by all the other items. Planning is key.
Instead of having to buy a gift for a lot of people, get your friends or family together to draw "Secret Santa" names so that you have fewer people to buy for. Also, never go on a shopping trip without bringing coupons! There are so many resources online that you should never pay full price.
I keep in my budget by finding things on sale, or making gifts. Who doesn't love a homemade gift?
I always use a list. The list lets me know which stores to visit. I keep tabs on what I've already spent, then I know what's still left to be spent. For family, I start buying earlier in the year especially when something nice goes on sale! I've tweeted & posted to my FB wall about this giveaway ( Poohro)
I shop with cash and I also make cookies to give to friends. :)
Homemade gifts!
Budget is usually around $300-400, but it's so hard.
Just tweeted about your giveaway. Yey! my twitter name: @WhyVonYvonne
Handmade gifts are always a hit! Especially in this economy, it is important to remember that monetary gifts are not as important as heartfelt ones! <3
I started putting aside $25-50 a month for a separate "gifts" saving accounts for birthdays, weddings, and soon Christmas. It helps to prevent feeling overwhelmed with cutting costs/budgeting elsewhere during times of gift giving. I also like to shop online and make sure I get a great deal.
i chose a maximum dollar amount to spend for the holidays this year. THEN i made a list, and had to whittle down my list to stay within the budget! but i also decided to make gifts, so that i didn't have to whittle down drastically.

This is fabulous! I won't be using my membership rewards for Christmas as I'm saving them for my 5th wedding anniversary trip to South Africa!!
Anywho- to stay within my budget I make a lot. Who doesn't love monogram etched barware?
To stay on budget I buy gifts in groups, cute items that can apply to more than one person in my life. This year all my aunts are getting sweatshirts from my family's Alma mater
I tweeted about your giveaway, as well! :)@britthyland
What a great giveaway! I like to make gifts for people, and at Christmas time I can often be found trolling the Anthropologie sale section :)
This is my last Christmas with my family before I move to Morocco, so I decided to use my miles so that my brother could fly out to spend Christmas with me. Thanks to Rue La La, Beyond the Rack, Bauble Bar, etc. I've been able to find great gifts all way under budget. For a lot of my friends in NYC, since this will also be our last Christmas together, my gifts are going to be all homemade presents, along with a collection of photos I've taken over the years. I want to give them something they will remember me by, so something homemade or photos taken from my camera is the perfect gift for all of them.
I like to devise a budget and keep it crafty during the holidays. Crafts: 1.take a family photo and print my own Christmas Cards. 2.Make ornaments out of folded paper. 3. Make stockings out of felt. 4. Give Teas and Hot Chocolate in pretty wrapping. 5.Let the kids make garland with fishing wire and fabric. (vague but it works in my head)
To keep within my budget I usually plan things out, check for online reviews, and always check for online coupon codes. It's amazing how easy it is to find 5, 10, 15 and even 20+ percent off codes for most retailers.
I buy gifts on sale all year long and save them in my gift cupboard. I shop from my gift cupboard as much as I can.
Making lists of what you actually want really helps. I just went to a financial planning seminar and it's important to "sleep on" things. Impulse buys can be the worst! Oh and always make sure that the product will fit with the rest of your wardrobe if its a clothing item or shoe. :)

Such an amazing, generous opportunity for all of us, thank you!!
To stay within budget this year, as well as the years previous, I try to make my gifts as homemade and heartfelt as possible. Last year I purchased a plain gift box, took Scrabble letters to spell the persons name and glued it to the box. Inside the box was 150 things I loved about that person in different colored paper. I also added pieces of paper with my favorite memories we've shared together, and sprinkled the conentes with Hershey kisses. It was well under 5 dollars, but took time and love to create. The reactions were better than any expensive gift could have gotten. You can't go wrong with D.I.Y.!

Love this giveaway! I save money by taking advantage of all of the promotions and coupons offered by retailers this time of year. I make a list of what I want to buy, and then wait for a 20% off coupon before purchasing.

Thanks!

WOW a nice giveaway. I shop for Christmas starting in September/October and slowly buy when I see the perfect item. I think a lot of people blow their budgets because they wait and they panic and are desperate to find something so they over spend.
To stay within budget, I buy practically everything with a coupon. Just about every store offers them so I bring them along before I go shopping. Also if I am in a store and don't have a coupon, I use my iphone to google if a coupon is currently available and if it is, I show it to them at the register right on my phone. Thanks & happy holidays!
!! To stay in my holiday budget, I begin looking around stores in November for items I have in mind for family & friends. Once it goes on sale (and things usually do in this economy), I snap it up :) Also can find lots of great items on etsy, often with better prices than traditional retailers.
I usually make a lot of homemade gifts. I also shop for gifts throughout the year. When I find the perfect thing for someone, I stash it until the holidays so that I'm not spending all in one month!
My trick to staying in budget is to constantly be on the lookout. You never know when or where you'll come across the perfect gift for someone, and if it happens to be on sale or in a less expensive store, all the better. I also try to focus on one really wonderful, meaningful gift for each of the people on my list, rather than buying several "meh" items.
Oh hey, my status is now Fabulous. I hope too many of my friends won't take the hint and ruin my chances of winning! ;)
I begin early and do a little at a time...Cyber Monday helps a lot!!
This is a wonderful giveaway! I like to stay on budget by shopping sales I go regulary check sale sites like http://www.gilt.com/invite/hdarph1 and groupon to find affordable and special gifts for friends and family! Easiest way to keep to your budget? Do some "forward planning." Start buying Xmas gifts in July. Easier to budget buying a gift or two every month rather than getting slammed buying a whole bunch in one month!
I willl google online coupons intime@myself.com
Thanks so much for the giveaway! I try to make some of my gifts (usually something knitted) and I buy gifts throughout the year. After Christmas, I usually grab as many gifts as a can at half the price for presents for the following year.
What a great giveaway! I always have my loved ones in mind, so when I am attending art shows, craft fairs, and local artists, if I see something that reminds me of someone I buy it. Normally all I have left to do around Christmas is to bake my butt off and add some DIY touches to make gifts more personable.

I suppose I never really stay in budget - I plan, write things down, split the cost of family gifts with other members of my family (so that an iPad becomes a gift to my Mom from the whole family!) and try to do a lot of thrifting/crafting. Usually those gifts require a little more thought, and end up having a more lasting impact than something that might empty out my wallet anyway:)
Every year I bake up my favorite items and package them up for my friends and colleagues. They're delicious, cheap, and more personal!
5 FAB tips I use for staying within my holiday budget:
1. First of all, I set a realistic budget. A dollar amount that doesn't stress me out.
2. Next I make a list, by priority, of everything I need to purchase for holiday shopping - including meals. If I can make it using items I already own or with very little money, I circle it.
3. Once I know exactly what I have to spend and what I need to buy, I am focused. Trust me, you will suddenly start to see the exact items you are after. At this point I notice my creative juices will start to flow.
4. Once my creativity is unleashed, I start to notice areas that can be grouped together. For example, this year I approached my family about making a donation to a charity, instead of getting each other gifts. While doing something charitable with those closest to me, I also freed up a little extra cash that would have had to be spent (had I needed to get each person a gift), as well as time from not having to shop and wrap the extra gifts.
5. Last, with my focused list and budget, I always start by shopping on Small Business Saturdays. Supporting my local economy just adds to my holiday spirit. You would be surprised at the amazing local deals to be found during the holiday season. From there I move on to online deals and national chains - who are also full of great deals during the holiday season.
With these five tips, I always enjoy a financially stress free holiday season and really get into a festive and giving holiday mood. Hopefully these tips help some of find the same :)
Cheers!
I stay within budget by making very careful shopping lists, reading blogs to find out about sales and coupons, and shopping the clearance racks.

My gosh, how awesome! My tips for staying on budget are simple, yet effective.
1. Use debit cards or cash, not credit, that way you can't be tempted to spend more than you have.
2. Make a list before you shop, if you know what you're looking for, you're less tempted to buy other things.
3. Utilize online sales! You can bundle gifts at online shops, and usually find coupon codes and free shipping, so you can get more shopping done in less time!
Thanks! :)

My tip to stay within my holiday budget is to shop all year long. When I find deals I buy them and save them for the holidays!

Happy Holidays!
My gift giving season will consist of favorite magazine subscriptions. Its the perfect gift to be remembered all year long.
Enjoy the Season
I withdraw my shopping max from the ATM. I find that I am extremely aware of how I am spending when I can visibly see the cash diminishing.
Great giveaway! I make a "gift tracker" and log every gift I get as I get it and how much it costs. I tend to forget things I bought and end up buying more than I need to! It has helped me tremendously!
Inspiring and charming blog! I'm a new follower and thought what the heck I'll enter as I never do in the past. The holiday budgeting is challenging but I try to do it with writing a list, and trying to cut spending on other things like eating out and always putting a personal touch to a gift either it be hand made or a charming bargain buy from savvy purchases :)
I stay within my holiday budget by looking at prices on line, at stores and in sales ads before buying

One word: crochet! People love handmade earmuffs, scarfs, blankets--you name it! Also, thrifting is amazing.
To save money, I wait for the right time to buy, meaning I watch the sales! There have been some great sales this year, and if you use coupons, too, it always helps!
I started using ebates! I love that they offer coupon codes but the fact that I get cash back on my purchases makes it so much better! :)
use sites online that don't charge sales tax and always check for promo code before finalize purchase.
