DIY: Teacups Candles

Are you looking for a cute Valentine's present for your friends? Or you have bits of old candles around the house... how about making your own candle using cute teacups or any fun container you already have? I actually thought I was going to do some this Sunday but never got around it. I promise you is super easy and fun....plus you'll have your house smelling deli.

Here is a step by step:

You will need:
~ Glue Gun
~ Candle Thermometer ( or you can also use a candy thermometer)
~ Pre-waxed Wire Wick with clip
~ Creme Wax and or pieces of old candle from your home
~ Bag clippers or bamboo sticks
~ Scent for Candles (you can do rose, vanilla, lavender, etc)
~ Vintage Silver Containers or tea cups or any other container you like!!
~ Double boiler (in my case I use an old pan with an aluminum cookie cutter in the middle and on top a glass container, measuring jar, and then I pour some water). the important thing is that the water is not supposed to touch the glass container.

1. Set the double boiler with water, cut wax and place it inside container. Hook on the thermometer. Burner on high.

2. Glue the wire core wick clip using the glue gun at the bottom of the containers you are using.
3. Hang wick by off a bamboo stick so that the wick is nice and straight. You can also use a bag sealer clip to grab wick, it just need to be long enough.

5. Once the wax is melted and gets to about 180F, take it out of the stove and add color. Wait until it get to 175F and add scent (don't bee shy when adding scents...it really needs a lot).
6. Pour the wax into each container making sure the wick stays in place.
7. I let it sit a little and then i added the rose petals so they sited at the top.
8. I checked them for the next half an hour on and off to make sure the wick was still in place...

......and voila fabulous candles in literally and hour or less!!!

Here is another option using metal pastry cups! Very cute!

You would have never guessed this was an apartment building 7 years ago... but after all the renovations today is a clam oasis in the city, don't you think? Love all the whites and ivories and the insanely gorgeous chandeliers and mirrors spread through out the townhouse. Not to mention the outside patio...!

Food: Hummus and Avocado Toasts with Roasted Tomatoes

How about some delicious and healthy appetizers? Not only for guests, I would totally do them for me and my husband, pair with some great wine for a Saturday night in...!!

Here is the recipe:

Hummus and Avocado Toasts with Roasted Tomatoes {Makes 6 – 8 party bites}

Ingredients:

* 6-8 slices of bread [gluten-free, whole wheat, etc.]
* 1/2 cup hummus [store bought or homemade]
* 1 avocado – halved, pitted and peeled
* 4 plum tomatoes, halved lengthwise, cores and seeds removed
* 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
* 2 teaspoons balsamic vinegar
* salt + pepper to taste

Directions:
1. Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F.
2. Arrange the tomatoes on your baking sheet, cut sides up, in a single layer. Drizzle with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Season with salt and pepper.
3. Roast for 25-30 minutes, until the tomatoes are beginning to caramelize

4.While the tomatoes roast, toast your bread. Using a cookie cutter or circular object, cut out 1-2 circles per toast, depending on how big the piece of bread is.

5. Spread ½-1 tablespoon of hummus on each circular toast.
6. In a bowl or plate, mash avocado with a fork, leaving large chunks.

7. Layer the mashed avocado over hummus, season with salt + pepper.

8. Top with a roasted [or fresh] tomato. Serve immediately.

Valentine's Inspiration: DIY Tissue Paper Wall Heart

I love tissue paper pom-poms.... every birthdays party, kids holiday and event in my house or that I put together (I actually even use them for a charity event in black and gold).. I use them!! So when I saw the cover of Martha Stewart Living I was totally smitten... and wondering how did I not thought about this before! So simple and chic... isn't it? I'm definitely using this idea..and the pink and red balloons another must for this Valentine's!

Do you like using tissue paper pom-poms? What fun project have you done with it?

Here is the step by step on how to make tissue paper pom-poms:

Step 1
Stack 4 to 8 {I always use more to create a fuller pom-pom but for the hear you would need larger and smaller pom-poms} 20-by-30-inch sheets of tissue. Make 1 1/2-inch-wide accordion folds, creasing with each fold. You will need a total of 30 pom-poms. Optional: mIx tissue paper in different colors.
Step 2
Fold an 18-inch piece of floral wire in half, and slip over center of folded tissue; twist. With scissors, trim ends of tissue into rounded shapes.
Step 3
Separate layers, pulling away from center one at a time.
Step 4
Bend wire into a loop to fit around napkin, and twist end around loop to secure.

Step 5
Position the pom-poms on the all: Play around with placement , and se a pencil to lightly mark where to stick each hook. Attach hooks to wall, and use excess wire to hang pom-poms. Use Damage-free hanging hooks.

* Update: Use a bone folder when folding the paper tissue. It really helps!

Get together with friends for a breakfast & mimosas...and you can actually get a lot of pom-poms done while catching up!!

DIY: A Warm and Cozy Knitted Snood + Video

...maybe is because I have been in bed {due to my surgery} more than usual, but I have been craving some crafty and easy stitching of knitting project! And since I am not a super talented a snood is a great way to feel great, do something creative but keep it super simple... plus is the perfect project for those Sunday football marathon that my kids and my husband has been torturing me with!!

Here is a step by step:

You’ll need:
* 10mm straight needles,
* 2 Skeins Rowan 100% Merino ‘Big wool‘ (100g, 87 yds per skein) or any similar alternative,
* Knitter’s needle or tapestry needle.

1. Cast on 24 stitches.

2. Ribbing stitch: knit, yarn over, purl, knit yarn over, purl.... Continue. Turn and repeat.

3. Cast off and stitch ends together. To cast off watch the video below or go {here} for another video tutorial.

...and voila you have a fabulous, handmade snood! It should take aprox 3-5 hs.

Happy New Year sweets!!! How are you? Hope 2012 fill your hearts with joy and your soul with dreams!!!

I took a couple of days off because I started the year surprising myself... and after years of contemplating and thinking about it I decided to get a rhinoplasty... and I am sooo happy I did it! It's day 3 after the surgery and I am still a little bit swollen but so happy I did it!! And what makes me the happiest is that is something I did for me... and it might sound strange but the results are really secondary to the fact that after years of thinking about it I took a leap of faith and jump with both feet!!! So cheers to year of embracing ourselves, taking risks...and why not surprising ourselves!!!

How was your NYE? Any fun resolution? ...and more important, how are you?

Time for a Drink: Sorbet and Champagne Cocktail..!!

... why not add a scoop of sorbet to the traditional bubbly drink and transform it into a NYE glam slush to welcome the New Year?

Ingredients
* 1 tsp sorbet (I like lemon, raspberry or passion fruit)*
* Chilled Champagne or Prosecco

Directions
1. Scoop a tsp of sorbet into a champagne flute. Fill with chilled Champagne or Prosecco; stir.

..and voila you have a perfect, easy and fabulous slush to welcome the New Year!

* raspberry and passion fruit sorbet works better if you are welcoming your guest with this cocktail, while lemon is great to serve after dinner!

Hair Inspiration: Looped-Under Ponytail ~ How to

As seen on the runway of Carolina Herrera this elegantly equestrian and simple updo is the perfect hair look for the upcoming holiday season. Love the fact that is simple yet super chic... totally effortless!

Here is the step by step:

1. Start with clean hair. If your hair is damaged or frizzy in texture, use a smoothing and conditioning oil or balm (backstage at Carolina Herrera, Orlando Pita used Morrocanoil Light) to help improve the quality and give it a natural looking shine.
2. Apply a styling cream (Pita used Moroccanoil Hydrating Styling Cream) to dampened hair, then blow-dry it straight.
3. Part the hair in the middle and pull it into a low ponytail at the nape of the neck. If your hair is fine, you can tease it a little for more volume then spray it with hairspray to hold it.
4. Loop the length of the ponytail under and secure with an elastic band, keeping one small section free. Using the fingers, mold the shape of the looped ponytail into a neat triangular shape.
5. Wrap the loose section of hair around the base of the ponytail, covering the elastic. Pin it in place.
6. Finish with hairspray to hold.

..and voila you simple & chic hair-do for this holiday season! I can totally see wearing this on the 25th...or for some nice dinner with friends right before New years

....there is always a place on my wish list for a Burberry coat!....and the design on this coat from their new Pre-Fall 2012 collection is just to-die for... super feminine! The fur asymmetrical collar and the elegant bow add such a lovely and glam detail!

How are you dears? How was your weekend? I thought I was going to have time to do the weekend post and share links but I spent the entire weekend decorating the house fro Christmas... I now have two major Christmas trees, one on the family room that is decorated in red with a more Scandinavian style and the main one 10 feet tree on the living room all glam up in shades of gold with a touch of pink!!! How are you doing with your Christmas decor? Are you done?

Decor Inspiration: Clean Start

Time for a Drink: Spiced White Wine Sangria

... maybe I'm still on a weekend mood but I thought this is a great drink to serve for a last minute get together with friends and family or as a welcome drink on your next holiday party.... plus it looks oh so very Autumy with start anise and slices of tangerine!

Here is the recipe:
Spiced White Wine Sangria
Makes 2 quarts

Ingredients
* 2/3 cup sugar
* 2/3 cup water
* 2 cinnamon sticks
* 3 star anise
* 3 cardamom pods, lightly crushed
* 1 (750ml) bottle pinot grigio
* 2 tangerines, thinly sliced
* 2 tablespoons light brown sugar
* 1 cup pomegranate seeds

Optional garnish:
* cinnamon sticks
* star anise

Directions
1. Place sugar, water, cinnamon sticks, star anise and cardamom pods into a small saucepan, stir and simmer until the sugar has dissolved. Remove from heat and allow the mixture to cool to room temperature.
2. While the spice simple syrup cools, spread tangerine slices onto a baking sheet and sprinkle the tops with a small amount of brown sugar.
3. Using a brulee torch, caramel the tops of each orange tangerine slice or place the baking sheet under a broiler for 2 to 3 minutes.
4. Place the orange slices and pomegranate seeds into a large pitcher.
5. Pour the wine over the fruit and add extra cinnamon sticks and star anise, if desired.
6. Strain the simple syrup into the pitcher and stir until well combined.
7. Place the sangria in the refrigerator and allow to chill for at least an hour. Pour into glasses and serve.

...makes me want to have some sangria right now! Cheers to you darling, to a fabulous holiday season!

Pink & Gold Holiday Party Inspiration + Mini Chocolate-Coconut Pink Cakes

...love hosting holiday parties!! Everybody is always so festive and you can go bananas on the glitter and details for the soiree! Pink and gold decor has been on my mind lately... now Martha makes it looks as always chic and fabulous!... and how about those mini pink coconut cakes, out of this world!!

Here is the recipe for the mini chocolate cakes:

MINI CHOCOLATE-COCONUT CAKES

* makes 20

- For the Cake

Ingredients
* Vegetable oil cooking spray
* 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
* 1/2 cup almond flour
* 1 1/2 cup sugar
* 3/4 cup unsweetened Dutch-process cocoa powder
* 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
* 3/4 tsp baking powder
* Coarse Salt
* 1/3 cup vegetable oil
* 3/4 cup sour cream
* 3/4 cup warm water
* 1 large egg plus 1 large egg yolk

1. Preheat oven to 350*. Generously coat two 6-compartment non-stick sphere=shaped silicone molds ( you can also do it in muffin tins) with cooking spray, and transfer to a rimmed baking sheet.
2. Sift flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder, and 3/4 tsp slat into a bowl of a mixer. Beat in oil, sour cream, warm water, egg, and egg yolk with mixer on low speed. Continue to beat until smooth, about 2 minutes.
3. working in batches, divide batter among molds (3 tbsp each). bake, rotating sheet halfway through, until toothpick inserted into center of each comes out clean, about 25 minutes.
4. Let cakes cool in molds set on a wire rack for 15 minutes. Run a knife around edges of each cake to remove from molds. Let cakes cool completely on rack.

-For Almond Syrup

Ingredients
* 1/4 cup water
* 1/4 cup sugar
* 1/2 tsp pure almond extract

1. Heat water and sugar in small saucepan over high heat, stirring, until sugar dissolves. Stir in almond extract.
2. Brush cakes with warm almond syrup. Let stand for 15 minutes.

-For the Frosting

Ingredients
* 3/4 cup plus 1 tbsp sugar
* 1/3 cup water
* 1 tbsp light corn syrup
* 3 large egg whites, room temperature
* 1/2 tsp pure almond extract
* Gel paste food coloring in red or pink
* 2 1/2 cups sweetened shredded coconut

1. Bring 3/4 cup sugar, the water, and corn syrup to a boil in a small saucepan over medium-high heat. Cook until a candy thermometer reaches 230*.
2. Meanwhile, whisk egg whites to soft peaks with a mixer on medium-high speed. Whisk in remaining tablespoon sugar.
3. Once syrup reaches 230*, immediately pour it down sides of bowl in a slow, steady stream with the mixer on medium-low speed. Raise speed to medium-high. Beat until cooled and stiff, but not dry, peaks forms, about 5 minutes. Add almond extract and 1 drop food coloring. Continue to beat for 1 minute.
4. Frost cakes using a small offset spatula, then coat each with coconut.

...and voila, you have fabulous pink chocolate-coconut mini cakes!

Food: Walnut, Caramel and Chocolate Ganache Tartelettes

I've decided this year I'm going to change the typical thanksgiving dessert.... and I am going to do individual apple galettes with vanilla ice cream and these decadent walnut, carmel and chocolate ganache tartelettes...! Not only I think the presentation looks divine but I think it would be fun for each one to have their own mini dessert! I'll let you know hoe it goes!

What will you do for dessert?

Here is the recipe:

Flaky Pie Crust with Walnuts {Makes 6-8 tarts}
Ingredients
* 2 cups all purpose flour •
* 1 cup ground walnuts •
* 125 g {1/2 a cup} butter •
* 1-2 egg yolk {if the eggs are big one will do it}
* 2-4 tbsp cold water {do 2 tbsp per egg yolk}

1. Mix flour and diced butter Until Everything Comes Together.
2. Add the yolk and water and mix until you have a smooth dough.
3. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and put in fridge for at least 30 minutes.
4. Preaheat the oven to 200 ° C {400°F} and position rack in the center. Lightly grease the pans. Roll out the cold dough (about 3 mm thick) on a floured surface. Slightly cut out out the rounds that are bigger than your pans.
5. Transfer dough to pans and make holes in it with a fork.
6. Place the dough with a piece of parchment paper on top and fill it with dry beans or rice.
7. Bake for about 10-12 minutes until the edges are golden brown. Remove the parchment paper and rice / beans and bake for another 5 minutes.

... for a sweeter dough, add 1-2 tbsp of granulated sugar!

Caramel Sauce
Ingredients
* 2 cups sugar •
* 125 g butter •
* 150 ml heavy cream

1. Heat the sugar in a saucepans without stirring. Once the sugar starts melting and becomes a lovely amber brown color, swirl a few times.
2. Remove from heat and swirl until all the sugar is melted.
3. Heat the cream in another saucepan. Meanwhile start adding diced butter to the sugar. Be very careful so you do not get caramel on yourself, it is HOT!
4. Once the butter is added, it will start to curdle a bit, but just keep stirring and it will come together.
5. Put the saucepans back on the heat. Add the cream, a little at a time. Be careful, it will spit and spatter like crazy!
6. Let the caramel boil for a couple minutes and then remove the pan from the heat. Let cool store in the fridge.

* to cut on baking time and have more of a taste like home {not to mentioned is delicious} I am going to do it with real Dulce de Leche!

Chocolate Ganache {Makes enough for 4 tarts}
Ingredientes
* 1 cup heavy cream •
* 1 cup chocolate (chopped or chips)

1. Place chocolate pieces in a large bowl.
2. Heat heavy cream on medium high until it comes to a boil. Remove from heat and immediately pour cream over chocolate and stir until completely mixed and glossy.
3.Allow ganache to cool before pouring over cakes as a glaze. The longer you allow the ganache to cool, the thicker it will set.

To assemble tartelettes:
Pour 2 tablespoons of milk jam at the bottom of each tartelet. Refrigerate for about 30 minutes. Spoon some chocolate ganache over the milk jam until you reach close to the top. Refrigerate a couple of hours before serving to let the ganache and milk jam set.

I spent all days yesterday watching my kids play football, my husband racquetball... with all boys in the house I guess Sports on Saturday is going to be something that I better get used to!!! DIY: Giovanna Battaglia's Beaded Button Down Shirt

Remember this post when I mentioned this shirt was screaming DIY!! Weel the fabulous ladies at Honeslty WTF did it one more time and here is a step by step on how to get Giovanna Battaglia's shirt...!!! Great weekend project...

You will need:
* a button down shirt
* a mix of metal, plastic or glass beads {my recommendation is to use glass, plastic is not going to look classy}
* a needle fine enough to fit through the beads
* thread {try to get a color that is similar to the shirt}

Keep the shirt buttoned. Thread the needle with about a yard of thread and tie the ends into a double knot. Push the needle through the backside of the middle of the placket.

Slide a bead onto the needle and bring the needle back through the fabric on the other side of the bead. Continue sewing beads onto the fabric using this running stitch.

After adding 5-6 beads, secure the stitch by tying off the thread with a double knot. This helps reinforce the stitch, especially with the weight of the beads. If the thread is long enough, continue to stitch on another group of beads. If the thread runs out, go ahead and cut the thread and start again with the first step.

Continue adding beads in small groups along the placket.

Stop 3/4 of the way down.

Doesn't it look fabulous? I hope is as easy as it looks because I'm definitely trying this!

Guide to Paris: Books & Apps

If you are planning a trip to Paris... here are my recommendations on what books and apps you can read and get before your trip.

Books: from all the books I bought before the trip {and believe I bought too many...} the ones I recommend are:

Parisian Chic by Ines de la Fressange: I actually got this book when it came out and love it! Of course it doesn't hurt that I look p to Ines de la Fressange since I was a little girl!! The first section is about style in general {great chic tips} and the second part was my bible for the trip... from where to eat, to great not that well known Museums {like the Musee Marmottan Monet}, to where to do some trendy shopping or great vintage shopping {she even share Doursoux, the mecca for real military vintage shopping!}, to the best places to eat {Cafe de Flores, La Fontaine de Mars, etc}. Her writing is very personable and she has great tips thorugh out her book! I would say a MUST READ if you are going to Paris, and a GREAT TO HAVE if you just want to read a book on style.

Stuff Parisians Like by Oliver Magny: I actually downloaded this book on my Ipad and read it on the plane and through out the trip. You won't find any addresses or places to go but it's a great book to get in the mind of Parisians..... and gain some insight into their habits and idiosyncrasys... like how to order water in perfect Parisian {A San Pe... !}, or when to use the word "putain", to how to behave on the Marche... the Parisian way, to the newspaper, etc,etc,etc. I love all the phrases at the end of each chapter...!! I even tested some of the things I read and it seem they where right on target.

Markets of Paris by Dixon and Ruthanne Long: If you want to do some vintage shopping {as I did}, find some great fabrics at fabulous prices or those rare shops this is a great mini book! It's organized geographically so unless you are looking for something specific I would just try to focus in the area where you are going to be living and discovered the little shopping gems Paris has to offer. I think I will travel with this little book to Paris...!

Apps: There aso many many great iphone/ipad/android applications... and I found them to be extremely helpful to just get around walking, by bus, on metro! The ones I recommend are:

Around Me: It's great when you are looking for the last minute cafe, or want a metro station or the bank. The only thing is you need wi-fi so it was not 100% reliable but I totally recommend it for your phone.

Paris 2 Go: It's a great guide for Paris with great wikipedia articles. The best part is that you don't need to be online so you alwys have acces to the map, metro map,etc.

Paris on Foot: It's great is you are planning on discovering the city walking specially if you get to one point and are ready to go somewhere but don't know exactly where. If you know where you are going Around Me is better. The downside is again you need to be online.

The Paris Apartment: If you are planning to do just a little bit of vintage shopping this is a great mini application. It tells you what market to go, what time of the year and exactly what metro or bus takes you there! Thanks to this application I ended up on a Saturday morning on Marche aux Puces de Porte de Vanves and run into Catherine Denueve, seen here {thanks to the recommendation of this app}. You can visit Claudia's blog here..the author!

Beauty How To: Winged Eyeliner + Video

Do you know the makeup look you are going to flaunt this holiday season? How about a simple fresh face accented with classic black winged eyeliner...as seen this year on on LV Spring 2012 runway show! If you are like me not very crafted in the makeup/eyeliner arena here is a step by step that makes it so much easier! If you are an expert any tip always helps!

Here is a step by step + Video:

Hold the eyeliner like a paintbrush, with your hand positioned near the top and relaxed.
1. Draw a line as close as possible to your eyelash.
2. Extend the line with a thin “tail” past the outer corner of the eye. Be careful not to create the wing before the outer corner of your eye, or it won't look natural.
3. Fill in the wing with the thickness of your liking. A thinner line will extend your eyes, whereas a thicker wing will open up the eye (or make them seem rounder).
4. Finish the liner by starting near the tear-duct and meeting the original line, keep this line more thin so your eyes appear to tilt upward.

Tips:
* Line as close to the lashes as humanly possible.
* The firmer you press the brush, the thicker the line will be.
* Once you finish lining your eye, do not blink for at least 10-15 seconds to allow the liner to dry.

Thanksgiving Tablescape Inspiration

How fabulous is this Thanksgiving tablescape? ...love the rustic-modern vibe.... the combination of a natural tablecloth against some brass accents mix with some yellow, blush and dark green hues! The gorgeous bouquet is a mix of honey-colored garden roses, crimson dahlias, blush-tinted ranunculus paired with some dark green clematis foliage and rattlesnake grass.

I'm totally using this for my tablescape inspiration... I might add a couple of natural pumpkins for the buffet table. Do you know what your thanksgiving table would look like?

Food: Homemade Cheese Straws

With the holiday season around the corner, I thought I would start sharing some of my classic dishes.... and I decided to start with a classic, simple and delicious recipe from the always fabulous Martha Stewart. I have been doing these parmegiano cheese straws for the last 3 years. Not only it's super easy, smells fantastic when you are cooking it... but usually is the first things guests go for and I always get a compliment... plus as they say first impressions set the stage!!! Plus you only need puff pastry, parmegiano cheese, one egg and salt!

Here is the recipe:

Homemade Cheese Straws {Makes about 3 Dozen}

Ingredients
* All-purpose flour, for work surface
* Puff Pastry
* 12 ounces Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese, grated medium-fine (about 4 cups)
* 1 large egg, lightly beaten
* Coarse salt

Directions
1. On a lightly floured surface, roll out pastry dough to a 9-by-20-inch rectangle.

2. Sprinkle 3/4 cup cheese over center of dough. Starting at the near short end, fold dough into thirds, enclosing cheese.

3. Wrap in plastic; refrigerate 1 hour. Repeat. Wrap in plastic; refrigerate at least 4 hours or you can even leave it overnight.

4. Cut dough in half; wrap half in plastic, and refrigerate. On a lightly floured surface, roll out half the dough to a 12-by-15-inch rectangle about 1/8 inch thick. (Do not press too hard on edges.)

5. Using a pastry brush, dust off excess flour; brush beaten egg over dough until well moistened. Sprinkle 1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons cheese and a pinch of salt over lower half of dough. Fold top half over cheese-covered half. Gently press to seal. Brush top of dough with beaten egg; sprinkle with remaining 1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons cheese and a pinch of salt.

6. Trim dough to 12 by 6 1/2 inches with a pastry wheel or knife. Transfer to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Refrigerate 30 minutes. Repeat with remaining dough, cheese, and salt.

7. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Using a pastry wheel, cut dough into 3/8-by-12-inch strips; twist into spirals. Space 1/2 inch apart on baking sheets. Press ends onto sheets to prevent straws from straightening. Cover with plastic wrap; refrigerate 30 minutes.

8. Bake until golden and cooked through, about 18 minutes. Loosen straws from sheets with a thin spatula; transfer to a wire rack to cool. Store in airtight containers at room temperature up to 1 day.

The recipe makes it looks more complicating that it actually is. I promise once you start is super easy. What I do is get a couple extra puff pastry and keep them on the freezer and just transfer it to the fridge the night before and you are ready to go..!

Morning Coffe + Back to Work!

...hello lovelies, remember me?? I'm back...!! I arrived Saturday aftermmong, and just spent every second of the weekend connecting with my kids. Now is back to work! Thank you again for all your comments here, on twitter, instagram, facebook and emails... you guys are the best!!! It was really the first time in a long time that I put everything aside and allow myself some uninterrupted vacation time...and it felt really good! Thanks you for understanding and your patient!!

My to do list this morning is loong... with Thanksgiving around the corner, the holiday and so many exciting project... not to mention work ;)! But through out all the craziness of Monday morning, a thought keep coming to my mind:

A Brand New Week + A little Work from Paris!

Hello lovelies...how are you? I'm still in Paris, enjoying every second of it...from late afternoon bubbles at Cafe de Flores, long lunches at the Avenue Montaigne, vintage shopping at the local Marche {we run into Catherine Deneuve... tre jolie}....I even flaunted the new romantic chignon feeling ohh so very parisen! I am trying to share pics from my trip on twitter..!! Hoping to be back fully blogging in a couple of days...!! Thanks you so much for all your recommendations... they where oh so very helpful!!

Such a fabulous ski lodge... as stated by Vogue, a lesson in luxurious simplicity! Love the contrast of the dark grey chimney wall in the center of the living room...and the kids room is adorable!

So many looves form the Hat collection, to the batik blue and white room, to Estee hat collection...and love the blue and white china in the patio (I'm totally using one of my blue and white pots as a wine cooler next summer).

Hair Inspiration: Romantic Chignon + How to Video

....love chignon!! And I think this is just perfect for fall...! I would have never guessed it was so simple but after watching the video (note is in Swedish but you can still get how to style your hair) I'm totally trying it out...!! Perfect do for my trip to Paris!

Paris: A trip of a lifetime...! + Recommendations

....in less than 24 hours I'll be on a plane on my way to meet my mother and ready to enjoy 12 days in Paris with her!! Yes, just mother and me... no kids, no husbands just the two of us... in a city we adore!!. We might take 2 days to visit some family in Belgium but we don't know yet...since we decided we where going to take this trip one day at a time!!! Is the first time I am leaving my kids for 10 days but the idea of having a trip of a lifetime with my mother.... OMG what a blessing!!! I am beyond excited and so grateful we are going to have this time just the two of us in Paris!!! If you know of any place, market, museum, restaurant that we need to go or any lotion, local perfume...anything that we can buy....would love to know! I literally love following your recommendations... not only it usually turns out to be a fabulous place but it immediately has a special meaning...!!!

I have a couple of posts lined up so it's not going to be au revoir... just a bientôt!!

Decor Inspiration: An Eclectic & Charming New York Apartment

I covet white spaces with a splash of color... I feel it makes a room feel fresh and modern! And love how this NY apartment was decorated using light and airy big furniture mixed with touches of cobalt blue and tomato red. Sophistication and glam where given to the apartment by using lots of pattern, texture and spectacular art. Neutral pieces + charming accessories = fabulous space!

Entertaining Inspiration: Decorating with Veggies

Love the idea of using richly colored veggies to decorate your tablescape or appetizer table! Like using a cabbage head as a dip container, covering glasses and cups with leaves and cinch them with twine... or simply placing cabbage leaves inside a glass bowl and fill it with another dip or salad. Another great idea, using sliced bottom of sprouts as saltcellars... fa.bu.lous!!! All the deep purples and green veggies create such a cozy setting.. don't you think?

DIY: Louis Vuitton Inspired Peter Pan Collar

Looking for a feminine, chic detail to add to your fall wardrobe? How about this peter pan collar? The talented (and always fabulous) ladies at Honestly... WTF, came up with a step by step that includes even the template.

Here is how to do it:

You will need:
* 2 scalloped edged collar pieces cut from white felt or rubber flannel (pattern downloadable here)
* a single hole punch or leather rotary hole punch
* 1 yard of white ribbon
* a needle and thread
* hot glue gun
* button

1. Using the pattern template, cut out the two collar pieces. Create small holes between each scallop, using the hole punch
2. Overlap the two wider end pieces and push a button through the last two aligning holes. Sew the button in place from the backside.
3. Cut the ribbon into two half-yard lengths. Thread the ribbon through the last hole on the tapered end, place a drop of glue at the tip, and fold it closed.
4. Wrap the collar around your neck and tie it into a bow.

I am so tempted to give it a try this weekend... how about you?

For me is a given, every time I visit a home my eyes immediately are drawn to the bookshelves...I fell I always discover something new about the owners of the house! Travelling + Lovely things!

... Good morning lovelies...!!! Pretty things always make me smile...! I have been coveting a blue bag for some time now and love how classic and chic this velvet one is. BTW I am actually wearing the same camel leather coat and of course always loving my Chloe perfume.

I am actually getting ready to board a plane on our way to Annapolis to spend a long weekend of candlelight dinners and champagne bubbles, room service breakfast and leisure afternoons... And simply enjoying and cherishing the couple without the kids (although I have a knot in my stomach missing them already but I keep reminding myself that having a strong marriage is the best present I can give my kids). BTW, would love to know If you have any recommendation for Annapolis?

Decor Inspiration: An Urban Country Chic Vermont Cottage

A Vermont cottage filled with charm, pizazz and zhuzh..! Such a mix of style, texture and colors but that seem to coexist in perfect harmony... creating a special home filled with life!

The kitchen garden, where the owners usually entertain... is literally to-die-for surrounded by flowers beds and and raised vegetables. A vintage desk is used as a bar placed against vintage wallpaper in the main dining area. The bookcase was designed with a mantel-like shelf! And how great are the moodboard?

DIY: Crystal Neckalce

Good Morning!! With the weather cooling down a little bit I thought this is a great project to tackle on the weekend! Plus it looks super easy...! Have you done any jewelry at home?

Here is the step by step:

You will need:
* wire cutter and pliers,
* chain,
* crystals (with holes),
* eye pins (one per crystal),
* clasp of your choice.

1. Cut chain to desired length.
2. Using pliers, attach a clasp to the end of the chain.

3. Lay out chain and plan where you will attach each crystal.

4. Loop eye pin through the hole in the top of the crystal (wrapping through the chain) and bend pin into circular loop to secure.

5. Repeat step 4 for each crystal.

...and voila you have a fabulous crystal necklace in no time!

Plus is a super easy DIY to add some glam to a tired looking cardi or sweater, don't you think? You can get some metallic leather and you could either sew it or glue it! I am going to give it a try and will let you know what glue works best!

Food: No-Rise Pizza Crust

Love the idea of making a pizza crust in no time....specially if it tastes better than the regular bought pizza... and it only took 10 minutes!!!! And fill it with veggies and have an easy and healthy recipe!

Here is the recipe:

No-Rise Pizza Crust {makes four 9-inch pizzas}

Ingreditens
* 1 c. water, heated to 110 degrees
* 1 tbsp. olive oil
* 1 tbsp. sugar
* 1 envelope (2 1/4 tsp.) rapid-rise or instant yeast
* 1 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
* 1 c. whole wheat flour
* 1/4 c. grated parmesan cheese
* 1 tsp. sea salt

Preparation
1. Preheat oven to 450°.
2. Whisk water, oil, sugar, and yeast in a bowl. Allow yeast to proof for 5 minutes.
3. Pulse flours, parmesan, and salt in food processor until combined.
4. Add flour mixture into yeast mixture, and stir until combined. Quickly knead dough until it comes together.
5. Divide dough into four equal parts. On a floured surface, roll out dough into 9-inch rounds. Place on a parchment lined baking sheet.
6. Add pizza sauce or homemade pesto. Top with veggies and cheese, a dash of salt and pepper, and a splash of olive oil.
7. Bake for 15-20 minutes.

..and voila, you have a super home-made pizza!

Everything Fabulous on One Kings Lane!

As mentioned last week, I was busy with a couple of very interesting projects... one of them was working with One Kings Lane for their very first design bloggers collaboration for their Tastemakers Tag Sale!

Working on the list and picking items for it was not as easy as I thought... and I would have loved to have more time. Since I am all about accessories and details I decided to go with that theme so you are going to find a vintage gilded wood mirror, a pewter photo frame, some tapestry pillows, vintage gilded glasses and a ram horn candleholder that will ad some pizzaz to any coffee table or bookshelves, and some other items that I think are chic and would add some lovely details to your decor!

DIY: Make you own Halloween Dinnerware

... now this is something different! I am not crazy about going all orange and black paper decor for Halloween...but love having an element of surprise, specially if it's for the table. You can take this idea and make it your own, maybe do the appetizer plates or just the main serving platters...! As for the writing, you can use Halloween scary stories, or a passage or simply use your imagination.

Here is the step by step:

You will need:
* off with plain white plates
* a porcelain 150 pen,
* some blue masking tape
* a small stencil (optional)

Cut a single piece of blue tapers paint to use as a guide to keep straight and start copying the text across the rim of the plate. Don't worry about being too neat - it should look scribbled. If you make a mistake that you don't like the look of, simply wipe it off with a wet paper towel and start over.

Using a small adhesive stencil of a raven from Martha Stewart crafts, I applied that off center and filled in with the ink. Let dry and pull off the stencil.

All that was left was allowing to dry completely for 24 hours and then baking in the oven according to the markers directions to let set.

...and voila you have a fabulous Halloween dinner set!

Food/Drink: Mimosa IcePops

Mimosas ice pops? Seriously? That was enough to get my attention, but when I saw this recipe feature on because I'm addicted and learned that you only actually freeze them in as little as 7 minutes... I was literally sold! I am talking about Zoku pop maker... have you heard about it? Have you try it? Do you owe one?

I wish I would have gotten one during summer...but I guess I have Fall Sunday morning to look forward .... eating some mimosa ice pops!

Here is the recipe {that you can also do using your freezer}

INGREDIENTS {Makes 6 Pops}

For the orange juice/champagne layers:
2 ounces champagne
8 ounces orange juice

For the strawberry layer:
½ cup fresh strawberries
3 tablespoons orange juice

MAKE THE ORANGE-CHAMPAGNE BASE
Stir the orange juice and champagne together until combined.

MAKE THE STRAWBERRY LAYER
Puree strawberries and 3 tablespoons of orange juice in blender until smooth.

ASSEMBLE THE POPS

1. Remove Zoku Quick Pop Maker from the freezer.
2. Insert sticks and pour about ¾ ounce of orange-champagne base into each cavity; allow layer to freeze completely.
3. Pour ½ ounce strawberry puree into each cavity directly on top of the orange-champagne layer; allow layer to freeze completely.
4. Pour another layer of the orange-champagne base up to fill line in each cavity (approximately ¾ ounce per pop); allow layer to freeze completely.
5. Remove the pops with the Super Tool. Repeat with remaining pops.

Loving these three spaces from the House of Windsor! The open space kitchen with it's gorgeous appliances, a marble table that is out of this world and all the eclectic mix of chairs.... creates such a charming space, don't you think? I am saving that office space in my moodboard... so glam and chic! And finally the bedroom, with it's perfect balance of masculine and feminine accents... divine!!
